40TH ANNIVERSARY OF WOODSTOCK - GOLDEN GATE PARK, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - WITH THE JERRY MILLER BAND
Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Keith and his family migrated to the Santa Cruz, California area when he was just a child. Very shortly thereafter, his musical aspirations would be born.
Keith and childhood friend Gabe Butterfield (son of legendary harpist Paul Butterfield), formed their first band in 1980. As his self-taught abilities began to mature, Keith would become a household name for a myriad of colleges and various events in the Santa Cruz area. Keith lived in Nashville twice. Firstly, he played and toured the U.S. and Canada for a couple of years with Anita King (Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle’s cousin) in the band, “Rocky Mountain Thunder”. Then, he ended up in Nashville again, and touring the country with acclaimed Americana songwriter, David Beaudry, with whom he also did extensive recording. In Santa Cruz, Keith continues to work steadily with a variety of hugely popular local area bands: Rumble Steelskin, John Michael Band, PIPR, Bog Iron, Ribsys Nickel, Cruzmatik, Not So Young, Vito & Friends, Gary Gates Band, SCHWA, SPUN, Rory Koshlaychuk - check out the Video/Audio page Also on the list of his many projects has been his band, Demigod, with his long-time friend, Bruce Shakman. Their debut CD, “Born, Play, Work, Die”, was recorded at Prairie Sun Studio with artwork by the incomparable Prairie Prince, heralded drummer (The Tubes/Todd Rundgren/Jefferson Starship/ Quicksilver Messenger Service). The May 2010 issue of High Times gave Demigod their rating of 4 pot leaves out of 5 with their review of the CD. In 2006, Keith started playing bass and drums with Rolling Stone’s top 100 guitarists of all time, Jerry Miller from Moby Grape. It was at a show in Detroit during the 40th Anniversary of the Summer of Love Tour that Keith met the members of Quicksilver Messenger Service.
